Red Brick House II
Within the Chelsea Park Carlyle Conservation Area and continuing along the street from Red Brick House I, Red Brick House II deals with similar issues presented by the 1950’s built terraced residence while taking a different form and approach. For this project the brief was to lower the existing basement and create new light wells, to create living spaces that don’t in any way feel they are subterranean.
Elegant design details include the new walnut stair, new crittal full height windows help to transform the aesthetic from a post war infill terrace, to a more of a New York Brownstone vibe. A sunken gym and reworked top floor exposing the eaves create an expansive new master suite, all while retaining the external appearance to match the neighbouring terrace, including dashingly dramatic dark liveried external painted windows and doors.
