Boltons

We redeveloped this large and handsome family dwelling, working closely with our client who took full advantage of our skills through the complex basement planning process to maximise its full potential. Through a careful redesign, we ensured that every floor of the mid-19th Century property had its own particular draw and appeal, but also that any charm already apparent within the existing layouts was not lost.

By lowering the floor level on the lower ground floor, we increased headroom and improved access to the large rear garden. This allowed for the main hub of the house to remain at this level, with the primary feature being a large and light-filled kitchen which leads directly out onto the garden, whilst the formal entertaining space occupies the raised ground level.

The first, second and third floors above are dedicated to lovely large bedrooms with en suites, whilst below the large new basement houses notable amenities including a media room and bar, and a fitness suite with a sauna and steam shower. We united all six of these floors by relocating the main stair void and constructing a spiral staircase which runs from the basement all the way to the roof, with the rooflight above allowing the natural light to flow into the vertical space.
